The team:
Mike’s boat engine service was founded in 1992 as a one-man operation by Mike Gutjahr.
Mike worked in the German Navy for 15 years, after which he studied mechanical engineering. After graduating, he turned his hobby into a profession.
Sven completed a vocational training as a car mechanic at VW and Audi and joined the family business in 2005. Since then, he has attended a large number of training courses on
boat engines and drives.
As of January 01st 2023, Sven has taken over the management of the company; Mike has retired to his well-deserved retirement, but is still there to help and
support him.
The workshop:
In the early days, equipped only with a service vehicle, Mike sought out customers in the ports or halls; the work was always carried out on site. This was followed in 1995 by the establishment of a small workshop on the Schwentine.
In 2007, a new hall with a fully equipped workshop and a 2.5-tonne engine hoist was built in Daenischenhagen, about 7 km north of Kiel, directly next to the B 503. The hall has a floor space of approx. 120 square meters, so that larger boats can also be accommodated in order to be able to carry out the necessary maintenance work and repairs in the dry even in northern German bad weather. Work on large boats can be carried out in the workshop yard.
Even larger boats will be visited as usual at their berths or pitches. Like in our
early days, our service vehicles are still very well equipped.
